FUNDAFID OVERCOMING BARRIERS

FundAFID launches the “Classroom for pedagogic stimulation”, a new initiative funded by FundAFID Foundation under the umbrella of the Therapies Sponsorship Program.

This initiative aims to provide assistance to children with cerebral palsy and other cognitive disabilities by creating an environment that provides learning experiences beyond the typical therapy dynamic.

In Venezuela, children with disabilities face significant barriers to be included in the education system. Most schools lack adequate infrastructure, for example, there are no ramps to facilitate wheelchair access, limiting children's mobility around the school facilities. These are called “structural barriers''. In addition, even harder to overcome are “attitudinal barriers”, such as rejection and other negative behaviors by teachers and other school personnel, caused by lack of appropriate training.


Faced with this scenario, FundAFID has developed the following objectives:


Create conditions where every child will


  • achieve full participation on school day to day dynamics

  • get involved on classroom activities and on his/her own learning

  • participates actively on all classroom activities

  • enjoys a significative experience to strengthen his/hers social competences


Lastly, and just as important,

  • FundAFID will manage the child's inclusion in the regular/special education system.



Our Goal


That every child develops social and communication competences, becomes autonomous and is able to interact with the environment.


In order to extend this program in time, we will require the support of generous individuals and businesses.
